The plan for today was to see Mount St. Helens, a volcano that erupted only 30 years ago, by which the top was blown off to to form a gigantic crater. The universe, however, had other plans for that day. The sky was completely overcast and on top of that it was raining all the time and very misty. Our sight was limited to a few meters ahead of us. We thought we would have a better view at the top... wrong. All we saw that day was fog, fog and more fog.
Since our plan for Sunday was to go see Mount Rainier, we had to cancel. The weather gods were not going to change their mind just to please us. Instead, we went on our way South-East in the direction of Yellowstone. Coming down the mountain, we saw a little fox, scaring away from the sound of our engine. Too fast to take a photo, you'll have to believe us on our word =)
Once we left the state of Washington – which happened when we crossed a bridge called 'Bridge of the Gods', which was freaky - and entered Oregon, the weather suddenly changed: blue skies and 20°C. As we drove on the I-84, we stayed on the border between Washington and Oregon for a while and what we saw was overcast, gray skies to the left and sunny, blue skies to the right. Must be magic... or the mountain range on the border between the states.
